Unlocking Excellence in Technical Communication: Discover Awesome Resources

Table of Contents

As a Senior Technical Writer, I’ve always been passionate about curating resources that help professionals in the technical communication field succeed. That’s why I’m excited to share a project I started in the spring of 2020 and have been maintaining ever since: Awesome Technical Communication.

Awesome Technical Communication is an open-source project hosted on GitHub, designed to provide a curated list of valuable resources on various aspects of technical communication. Whether you’re an experienced technical writer, a budding UX/UI designer, a community manager, a developer who frequently writes documentation, or simply someone interested in the intersection of technology and communication, you’ll find something useful here.

What’s inside

The Awesome Technical Communication project brings together a carefully selected list of resources spanning a wide range of topics. Here’s a quick overview of what you’ll find:

  • Technical Writing: Dive into the fundamentals of technical writing, from style guides to best practices, and discover tools to streamline your writing process.
  • UX & UI: Explore principles of user experience and interface design, along with tools and strategies to create intuitive and engaging digital experiences.
  • Content Strategy: Learn how to plan, manage, and distribute content that supports business objectives, with a focus on strategy and alignment.
  • Content Marketing: Uncover techniques for using content to attract, engage, and retain customers, ultimately driving growth and building brand loyalty.
  • DevRel (Developer Relations): Gain insights into building relationships with developers, fostering community engagement, and promoting products or services to technical audiences.
  • Open Source & Community: Embrace the ethos of open source, and learn about fostering vibrant and inclusive communities around technology projects.

Currently, this project includes technical communication resources in both English and Chinese.

How you can get involved

Do you have useful resources to share? Here’s how you can contribute to the Awesome Technical Communication project:

  • Contribute: Found a blog or tool that you think should be included? Submit a pull request on GitHub to add it to the list.
  • Suggest resources: Came across something valuable that’s missing? Open an issue on GitHub and suggest it, and I’ll review it.
  • Spread the word: Help grow by sharing this project with your networks. Whether it’s on social media, in online communities, or with coworkers, every share counts.
  • Provide Feedback: Love something about the project or have an idea for improvement? Share your thoughts by opening an issue.

Final thoughts

As someone deeply involved in technical communication, I believe in the power of sharing knowledge, supporting each other, and the value of open source.

Whether you’re an experienced professional looking to stay updated or a newcomer eager to learn, I’d love for you to check out the Awesome Technical Communication project. Let’s learn and grow together.

Thank you for being part of this journey.
